Dow Corning's new LED sealant provides high light transmission

Dow Corning publishes three new two-component HRI silicone sealants, DOW CORNING OE-6665 A/B, DOW CORNING OE-6630 A/B, and DOW CORNING OE-6635 A/B. Supporting the rapid growth of LED City Changxin sealant provides higher light transmittance, and is suitable for various applications of hardness, with higher temperature, chemical corrosion and UV radiation resistance.

The new two-component high-refractive-index sealant has a total of three formulations, each with its own suitable application and process. DOW CORNING OE-6665 A/B offers maximum hardness and low viscosity. DOW CORNING OE-6630 A/B offers a softer formulation and similar low viscosity, while DOW CORNING OE-6635 A/B also provides softer The ingredients, but the viscosity is doubled. All three products have high transparency and a refractive index of 1.53.

According to Dow Corning, most LEDs are covered with a protective sealant to avoid electrical and environmental damage while increasing light output and minimizing heat build-up. In addition, the sealant can be molded into a lens sheet to produce a specific light intensity distribution pattern. Most of the previous sealants are still made of epoxy resin and other organic materials, but currently silicone sealants are becoming more and more popular because they can withstand higher LED operating temperatures and are compatible with lead-free reflow processes.
