According to foreign media reports, Germany's Osram has introduced XLS (eXchangable LED Signal) standardized LED light source for automotive signal applications. Germany's Osram said that the combination of standard light source and LED technology will revolutionize the automotive signal industry. Osram says its introduction of the LY5 and LW5 yellow and white series means that users (TIer1 / OEMs) can first equip all vehicle signal applications with standardized, replaceable LED signal sources.
Hans-Joachim Schwabe, CEO of OSRAM Special Lighting, said: “This is the first time that all important vehicle signal applications have been realized through a unified platform with four different light sources. This approach enables simple replacement and reduces the complexity and overall quality of the car manufacturer. Cost and faster development process.” OSRAM revealed that the LED signal is scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2018.
In the past few years, vehicle LED technology has brought many benefits to design and improved energy efficiency. But the result is that the industry has created a series of confusing vehicle solutions. To solve this problem, OSRAM has developed a standardized LED light source for signalling applications. Osram says that with the XLS product line, OSRAM's combination of signal lamps offers all the innovative advantages of LED technology while offering the tangible benefits of traditional luminaires such as standardization and replaceability.
