Knowledge And Types Of Solar Panel Lights

October 22, 2022

Like solar floodlights, solar street lights, etc., all use solar panels as the source of power generation. This article will introduce the operation of solar panels

Led Solar Flood Lights use the same solar cells as in large photovoltaic systems. The three most popular types of solar panels used to power floodlights are:

Amorphous
Single Crystal
Polycrystalline

In solar photovoltaic systems, the most popular panel types are monocrystalline and polycrystalline because they are more efficient. Thin-film panels, including amorphous panels, are less common in solar systems. In solar lighting, crystal panels and thin-film panels are used at the same rate. Basically, you'll find roughly the same number of floodlights using amorphous, monocrystalline, and polycrystalline panels. Now, let's see which floodlights each solar panel type is used for.

Typically, you'll find amorphous solar panels used in floodlights for between $20-70 and usually sell for $30-40. These "low-end" floodlights are usually made of plastic, as is the housing of the solar panels. These floodlights are often used around the house to illuminate smaller areas such as the front door.

Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline Silicon Solar Panels in Led Solar Flood Lights

Silicon crystal solar panels are also used in many floodlights. It is well known that monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels have distinct advantages over thin-film panels. They are more energy efficient, so they require less space to generate the same amount of electricity as amorphous panels, which is great for flood lighting. Silicon panels also last longer and are less efficient than 20 years. But the main disadvantage of these panels is cost. The cost of monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels is significantly higher than that of amorphous solar panels. This is the main reason why you will usually find silicon crystalline photovoltaic cells in "mid frequency" and "high end" floodlights.

When looking at the solar flood lights market and analyzing which types of floodlights use amorphous solar panels, it is clear that these types of solar panels are mainly used in cheaper "low end" floodlights. This is very obvious because, as mentioned before, amorphous silicon photovoltaic panels are the cheapest and also less expensive to manufacture than silicon crystalline panels. Using these panels in a "low-end" solar floodlight makes sense, as it's the perfect way to lower the price and make it more attractive to customers, while sacrificing a little performance. However, amorphous solar panels are not only used for close range floodlights, but also for some medium quality lights.

When we talk about large solar modules for buildings, monocrystalline panels are more efficient and cost more. Polycrystalline boards are slightly less effective and less expensive. So, if we use this solar lighting, it would make more sense if monocrystalline panels are used for the most expensive and powerful "high end" floodlights and polycrystalline panels are very demanding, less "mid to high end" "floodlight. In fact, it doesn't really make much difference whether you use a monocrystalline panel or a polycrystalline panel on a floodlight. The reason is simple, the difference in efficiency between monocrystalline and polycrystalline cells isn't actually that big, which is better seen when multiple large solar panels are required to power a building. For solar floodlights, a single small panel is usually used (or a single or two larger solar panels for high power floodlights). In small devices such as floodlights, it really makes no difference whether you use a monocrystalline or polycrystalline panel. Which panel is used for which floodlight depends on each manufacturer's preference. Some solar floodlight manufacturers use only monocrystalline panels, others use polycrystalline silicon, and even some floodlight manufacturers (like "solar lighting") use all three types of solar panels in their products.

Solar Illuminated Flood Lights with Polycrystalline Panels

Interesting thing to note is that monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar panels can also be found in "low-end" floodlights, although they are used in shorter "low-end" floodlights not because of their higher cost of amorphous panel. Typically, you'll find monocrystalline panels in floodlights in the $700 range, but they can also be found in powerful "high-end" floodlights for thousands of dollars and more. Polycrystalline panels are usually used in floodlights, and their prices range from more than 700 yuan to 3,500 yuan. These "high-end" solar floodlights are mostly made of a metal housing that protects the lighting equipment and solar panels, so they can be used outdoors in any weather conditions. Powerful "high-end" floodlights are often used to illuminate large areas such as sports fields, parking lots, backyards, and can also be used as decorative lights to illuminate statues, monuments, famous buildings and other places.
